Ristorante Il Pescatore [Italy, Isola d'Elba]

Hello again everyone

Just earlier this year Munchasaurus Pi was lucky enough to have a friend who got married in Isola d'Elba (Tuscany part of Italy, a little island close to Pisa) which gives me a great reason to munch away there, so my next few update will be all about Italiano.

Let's face it, who doesn't love a bit of italian food?

So lets kick off with my favourite restaurants there - Ristorante Il Pescatore in Portoferraio

A little friendly family run business so don't expect a great deal of service or hygiene level you would get in most restaurants, but if you are after some authentic italian mama style cooking then this is the munching place for you.

I must say I am a munchasaurus who just can't get enough of seafood so this restaurant is great, and my favourite dish in Elba has got to be Spaghetti alle Vongole (Spaghetti with Clams).

The spaghetti alle vongole at this place is definitely my favourite. The clam was very fresh with great amount of garlic and herbs which wasn't over powering the clams, drenched in good olive oil.

Frutti di mare fritti (Deep fried mixed seafood), it was basically prawns and squid, the taste was great, freshly cooked and it was crispy and tender. I would suggest to add another type of seafood just to make it mix a little more!

Veal steaks cooked in wild mushroom sauce - Something the waitress has recommended and it was good that I listened! The veal was cooked just right, tender and very flavoursome with the mushroom sauce, though the sauce was slightly too salty for my munching palette.
